The November Scarecrow
“Why is there a scarecrow still up?”
By November, the fields should be empty. The crops are gone, the nights have turned cold, and Halloween has passed. Yet sometimes, far out in the dead fields, a lone scarecrow can still be seen standing watch. The old folk called it The November Scarecrow.
The November Scarecrow remains after Halloween to watch over the spirits that linger as the Veil begins to close. Through the gray days and long, cold nights of late Autumn, it whispers faintly across the dead fields, its voice carried on the wind to those lost souls who failed to cross before All Hallows’ end.
One by one, the wandering dead are drawn to its call. The November Scarecrow ushers them toward the other side before winter finally settles over the land.
And if you happen to see a scarecrow standing alone in a field long after the harvest is over, you are better off leaving it alone...It still has work to do.
The November Scarecrow is available in two editions
Fully Painted Edition - $100 each - Edition of 10
Each figure is cast in black resin and individually hand painted to bring out the weathered textures, twisted branches, worn clothing, and carved pumpkin features of the November Scarecrow. (Stands 7”)
Orange Rub Edition - $60 each - Edition of 10
Cast in orange with a black acrylic rub that emphasizes the rough textures of this autumnal piece. (Stands 7”)
